Found over at swissmiss this morning and am in love with this idea. SwissMiss describes the service perfectly so read a quote below. How great would it be if the community can decide where to make improvements that work for them?

“Brand new Lucky Ant is the Kickstarter for your community. Instead of funding short films and art projects, you help support improvements to your favorite neighborhood hot spots. Whether it’s sponsoring an outdoor patio for the cafe around the corner or even helping a local high school build a student-run restaurant, this is your chance to help build the community of your dreams.

Thank you SwissMiss for this gem:

“Picplum is an automatic photo printing service and here’s how it works: You email or upload photos to their website and they then, every month, automatically print and mail them to your friends and family.”

Great project by Katie Lewis found over at SwissMiss – she “collects data through daily documentation processes, and then generates numerous systems to allow the information to exist in a material form. She abstracts and quantifies the data and creates mesmerizing pieces of art.” Hm…am thinking this could be a cool way to explore Design Ethnography data? Anyone…?

This beautiful quote by Ben Pieratt ( pretty much sums up why you should join a startup….and why this is the time and why the internet is there to help you make it happen!

“The internet, at this time in history, is the greatest client assignment of all time. The Western world is porting itself over to the web in mind and deed and is looking to make itself comfortable and productive. It’s every person in the world, connected to every other person in the world, and no one fully understands how to make best use of this new reality because no one has seen anything like it before. The internet wants to hire you to build stuff for it because its trying to figure out what it can do. It’s offering you a blank check and asking you to come up with something fascinating and useful that it can embrace en masse, to the benefit of everyone.” – Ben Pieratt

I love that while Kurt Andersen was the editor at New York magazine, he had the writers comply by this list of words that could not be used in their articles…i like how he titled this list “Words we don’t say”….we just dont to it, kids…
